Mott Linn is currently the Head of Collection Management at Clark University. Previously, he was an archivist and rare book librarian in both corporate and academic settings. He is a Certified Archivist. He has earned his doctorate in Library Administration and Management from Simmons College and his dissertation research was about the budget making in academic libraries. He has earned an M.A. in American History from the University of Wisconsin at Madison, an M.S. in Library and Information Science from Drexel University, an M.P.A. in Higher Education Administration from Clark University, and a B.A. in History from the University of Delaware. He has written a thesis about labor-management relations at the DuPont Company, a Capstone Project analyzing a university-community partnership, and articles about historical scientific instruments, library budgets, and the strategic managing of libraries. Other topics that he has spoken about include the assessment of information literacy programs, the hiring process in archives, working with Friends groups, practical uses of organizational behavior techniques, the assessment of how customers use a library, and the licensing of moving image footage.
