Penn State University
Museum Assistant
Huntingdon, PA
I am a recent graduate of the Johns Hopkins University receiving a Master of Arts in Museum Studies and a Baccalaureate Certificate in Digital Curation. My studies focused on collections management, archives, and digital information management, preservation, and curation. I completed a digital curation internship, "Born-Digital Collections Access Research and Planning," at the Smithsonian Institution Archives in winter 2020 with the Director of Digital Services, Riccardo Ferrante.

Currently, I am the museum assistant at the Pennsylvania State University Frost Entomological Museum located on the University Park main campus. I am responsible for the digitization of collection specimens, particularly terrestrial parasites for the NSF-sponsored Terrestrial Parasite Tracker Project, stabilizing preservation fluids for wet specimens, and entering classification data using TaxonWorks.

Talk to me about anything archives and collections, especially born-digital access and 'good enough' digital preservation practices for small museums and other cultural heritage institutions.
