Each year, the SAA Program Committee receives an average of 140 session proposals to fill the 60 to 70 education sessions that make up the backbone of SAA's Annual Meeting program. The Program Committee's challenge? Read, rank, and discuss the proposals. The goal? Build a program that appeals to the diverse range of members and meeting attendees. This session features a panel of past and current Program Committee members who provide an overview of — and insight into — the session selection process. What does the Committee look for? What makes a "good" session proposal? How much does a theme influence the choices? How does the process actually work? Panelists discuss the elements of a successful proposal as well as some of the common pitfalls to avoid. There will be ample time for questions from the audience.
