The speakers discuss oral history as a way to proactively document events and add to the historical record, sharing pragmatic approaches to engage with interviewees, interviewers, and the community toacquire digital content for the archives in rapid and efficient manners. Presentations include theoretical and practical discussions of how crowdsourcing trends such as StoryCorps complement or conflict with more traditional practice, and the impact of acquiring born-digital content for an archive. The presenters discuss the benefits and opportunities of their approaches, including perspectives from archivists, oral historians, and others in the field.
