SESSION 603 - Get Their Hands on It: Teaching with Objects in Archives and Special Collections

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

In response to a growing interest in foregrounding the material object in their collections, archivists and librarians are changing their collecting missions and outreach methodologies. The panelists see themselves as interpreters, not just custodians, who provide labs for interaction with historical objects for “digital native” students hungry for whole brain pedagogical tools and experiences. This session includes time for audience members to respond and speak of their own experiences with object interpretation.
