The panelists—who include archivists at university and public libraries and a videographer for Cleveland’s WEWS—address collecting, preserving, digitizing, and making broadcast news film collections accessible. The speakers discuss the importance of preserving news film collections, the research use of news film, and the challenges of working with audio/visual archives, and share their own experiences with fundraising, digitizing, and developing innovative partnerships.

Siobhan Hagan obtained her B.A. in Film and Video Production from Loyola Marymount University in 2007, and her M.A. in 2010 from New York University’s Moving Image Archiving and Preservation program. Siobhan was hired as the UCLA Library’s first Audiovisual Preservation Specialist in 2011 and as of 2014 holds the position of Audiovisual Archivist at the University of Baltimore's Langsdale Library.
