SESSION 310 - Learning to Manage/Managing to Learn

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

Although few archivists join the profession to become managers, many of us suddenly find ourselves in that position.  The presenters offer perspectives from a diverse set of experiences, expressing a common thread of “learning while doing.”  They share their experiences with managing staff, dealing with publicity and press, learning budget and project management, navigating change management, and implementing strategic planning.  This session includes practical tips and resources for obtaining management training while on the job.

Griffin: "Interim": Expecting the Unexpected
Schaefer: Building a High-Performing Team Through Change Management
Sullivan: Reviving the Department While Learning to Manage
Yun: When Yes Means No: Asset-Based Planning and Team Management
