SESSION 402 - Walking the Talk: Risks and Opportunities in Online Publication of Oral Histories

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

How do we deal with the risks and opportunities inherent in digitizing and publishing oral histories collected pre-Internet? What does 'informed consent' mean in this situation? Do we fully understand the real-world ethics and security challenges? What are the key differences between allowing onsite research and online access web scraping or data harvesters? This 'talk show' panel discussion asks participants to address these and related questions posed both by the moderator and the audience.
